Hi,

I have a Tyan Tiger MPX board with dual Athlon's, 512mb PC2100 DDR ECC Reg Crucial Ram, 80GB WD SE HDD, Lite-On 40x Burner, Antec 400 watt p/w, ATI 8mb AGP Video. When I run RC5 I can run day and night 100& utilization on both processors and not have any hiccups or lockups, then when I go to prime95 it usually only lasts 60 minutes at the max. Temperatures hover around 50C for both processors which is not unreasonable in my opinion. I realize prime95 stress test is supposed to REALLY test the stability of your system so I was wondering what I could do to troubleshoot my stability problem? Where do I go from here so I can get prime95 to run 24/7? I have the latest bios on my motherboard and am using WinXP Build2600. Please advise me with any information. Thanks.

Use a prog called "memtest86" to test out the RAM. Prime95 stress on both the CPU + RAM.

I ran memtest86 for the past two days straight with no errors and no ecc errors. soon as I rebooted tried prime95 again and it only lasted half an hour before freezing....what is the deal???? any ideas????

prime95 seems to lock up when your temps get over 50c, might want to lower your temps just a bit...

This is true, most problems I've had with prime95 are related to heat.

Could be the northbridge is overheating. Maybe try tacking a 40mm fan onto it, if you have a suitable one lying around, and see what happens. With two CPUs hammering on it...

after running prime95 for 20 minutes this time the northbridge heatsink was not as hot to the touch as the heatsink on the athlon's........that kind of rules that out doesn't it???? any other tests I could run to try to get heat up to the point it crashes? i mean rc5-72 gets the processors running just as hot as prime95 according to my TyanSysMonitor.....

BUMP, I am still having this problem. Any suggestions???? I really dont think the northbridge is getting hot. It is barely warm to the touch.

Try Memtest86 like Wind recommends, if you haven't yet. Maybe your RAM is the issue.
