Question regarding HD channel lineup and my LCD

If my LCD TV has a tuner built in, do I still need my cable box to get HD channels? Comcast wants to charge me a fee extra a month for the privilege to view HD channels.

Depends which channels you want. If it's anything more than limited basic, you'll need a box to do the decryption.

You will be able to get over the air HD channels. Basically, NBC, FOX, ABC, CBS.
