Question Regarding Forum Policy

Not sure if this should have been in another section, but I thought Off Topic was reasonable for it.

I am wondering if these forums allow "appraisal" threads for computer hardware. If so, where is the appropriate plate to put them? I read the forum rules and couldn't find anything about this (did I miss it?). The only thing I saw was that there are no "auction" style posts allowed.

So, can I make a post to determine what the experienced members here think my components are worth?

In the past, all appraisal threads were banned. I don't think they are allowed yet. It is buried, but on the for sale/trade forum there is a rule that states, "No price checks. These are often used as pretext to solicit auction style bids."

The best answer is search EBay. That will tell you the value of your components far faster than waiting for any forum response.
