Question regarding financial aid

Nocturnal

Lifer
I have roughly three semesters behind my belt. The first one I received an F and three Ws. Now what I want to know is if I applied for financial aid what are my chances at getting financial aid? I know they look at my previous grades and what not. Reason why I could not make tuition this year is I'm going to lose my job and I'm trying to pay off as much bills as I can.

Any idea on how much they base financial aid on my previous grades?

Some are need based and some are scholarship based, but it's always worth filing and a FAFSA or going to your schools financial aid office.

Thanks, I did indeed file/apply for a FAFSA. My GPA is at 2.0 right now. I hope to bring it up to at least 2.8-3.0 with this semester behind my belt.

I'm on financial aid right now, and I used to have one F and three Cs. Your 0.0 GPA isn't that great though, what happened?

I believe they may give you one chance at making it up, but after that, I think they ask for the money back. At least that's what my financial aid counselor told me. From then on my grades have gotten much better.

I suggest talking to your school's financial aid counselor.

Also, if you don't get approved for it, have you checked out stafford loans? There's a grace period of one year after you graduate.

I didn't see that part until after I posted. You should be approved easily now, good luck!
