Question regarding CD-R Media

I need new CD-R media and I'm shopping to see what would be the best. Obviously Vertabim and Fuji are better than others but how will I be able to see a difference? Does it justify the heftier pricetag (twice as expensive as Princos)? Thanks for your help. For your information, I use CD-R mostly for data but I also use them occasionaly to backup my audio CDs in case they get scratched or stolen.

Watch Best Buy for $2.99 or $4.99 50 packs of Fuji. IIRC Fuji's are always Taiyo Yuden (regarded as better quality). For other brands, check the spindle to see whether or not it's Made in Japan. Japanese ones usually have a screwdown cap instead of the twist lock spindle.

I buy Fuji's for important stuff. I buy whatever is free after rebate for everything else, cause I burn 300-500 discs per year. I have used....

IO Magic
Khypermedia
Fuji
Optimum
AT&T 😀

I have not had a problem burning any particular CDR media I have used. For longevity though, I like the Fuji's.

I use Verbatim Crystal discs, not so much cause any particular brand has caused me any troubles in the burning process itself, but rather cause they're very durable physically.
Old Traxdata golds are very tough too, have some that look like someone ran them over with a car that still work, I haven't seen any noname junk discs that can take abuse like that.
