In case you missed all of the other threads, AMD will be releasing new 6xxx models next week, so you might want to wait to buy anything.

In general, think 10% more performance than 5770 (obviously it does better in some corner cases, never worse) for 10% more power use than a 5870. It's not a completely horrible card, but was grossly overpriced at release and since overshadowed by equivalent performing, better thermals and often cheaper alternatives (like the GTX460 768).

5830 = SUCK.

gtx 460 768 is hovering in the $140-160 range and smokes it by ~ 15% on average. specifically according to AT bench it is 17-3-2, plus the 460 is quieter/cooler/lower power usage as well.

don't buy 5830 unless it's $20-$30 LESS than gtx 460 768. trust me, I generally lean ati but nvidia just dominates in this segment right now. also, the nvidia card oc's like mad while 5830 is a salvaged part without the same OC headroom.

I don't hate the 5830 as much as others, it's an ok card if you can find it cheap enough. But what kills it is that you can get a GTX460 768MB for ~$160 after rebate, that is a better card for the money.

But I would wait a week if you can. The new Radeons are being launched, or at least announced. That should drive the prices down of current cards, or a Radeon 6000 might be a good option for you.

I would get a gtx 460 768mb or gtx 465(both overclock like mad) long before looking at a 5830.

With GTX460 768mb and GTX460 1GB, I wouldn't buy a 5830 under any circumstances. Wait for Barts (HD6850/6870) as they are going to launch next week, with retail availability probably in the 1st week of November (or maybe even by the end of this month).
