Question regarding AIW and Cable

I have a AIW x1900 with timewarner digital cable
RF -> Cablebox -> AIW -> TV through DVI/HDMI
TV works through AIW but I can only change the channel through Cablebox remote and I cannot record TV with my AIW since the channel is fixed at 3. Is there a way where I can use my AIW remote or record?

can you watch tv on your computer?

It sounds similar to what I had to do with my DVD recorder, it only worked if I ran the S-video from the cable box to the dvd recorder out to the TV, but I can only change channels on the box, so If I start to record a program, I am pretty much locked into that show until it's over.
 
yeah same problem I have here.
I can only record while watching the tv on that fixed channel from the cable box. I can't utilize the TVguide program or anything.
