I have an older BX mobo that only supports Katmai CPU's. I was wondering if I were to use a SlotKETIII I have laying around if it will allow the use of faster FCPGA CPU's with the 133 bus... or even 100 bus at minimum.
I can not seem to find the adapters info on Abit's site anymore.

Thanks.

Yeah, depends on the mobo. You may even be able to use a Tualatin CPU up to 1.4 GHz using a $20 Upgradeware Slot-T.

The motherboard in it is a Compaq. Just a cheapo computer I bought to do some crunching for TA. I do not really want to spend money on it. I have that adapter and a 866EB CPU laying around. After looking at it it has jumper settings for a 133 bus, but I am not too certain how that will work out. Or if it will have to run as a 650 cpu. What it has in there right now is a PIII 450 Katmai in it. So even boosting that speed a little will help out. But 866MHz would rock a little more.

Thanks.

Thats kinda what I was thinking. But I seem to recall back in the days when I bought it, it would 'force' the motherboard to run @ 133MHz when that jumper setting is selected. But that maybe wrong.

I am also afraid the mobo might find a way to kill the CPU which would suck.
But I am just itching to use this, but all my memories of the ol Slot 1 days are faded.
You should have seen me when I seen jumpers for everything when I built a P4 system for a client. I thought those days were over unless you needed to clear the CMOS or something along those lines.

Yeah, but those were the days I was with my wife who kept on crashing and performing illegal operations... I had to uninstall her.

So I did not get that much experience with them.
