Last week I ordered a new computer, it'll have an AMD 64 bit 1 meg cache 3400+ processor, 2 gigs of ram and a geforce 6800GT. I've heard of a lot of people mentioning bottlenecking problems, and even with 2.8 ghz p4's OC'd to 3.2 ghz. Before I was sure my processor would pose no sort of problem for bottlenecking my gpu, but I was wondering, is it possible that my processor may bottleneck my gpu? or will it be sufficient to allow my gpu to run at peak performance.

The top video cards including the one you have will indeed be bottlenecked by any processors in many situations. For a card like yours a lot of the time a games frame rates will only become GPU limited at very high resolutions or at very high quality settings ie Doom 3.
Most of the time you will never notice a game that is GPU limited when talking about a card like yours as the difference is only apparent during benchmarking,i mean who can tell the difference between 150 and 200 Fps.
So will your card be GPU limited at times? - Yes Will you notice? probably not except under the conditions i described above.
