Question re the new Dell 2407WFP-HC

A question re the new Dell 2407WFP-HC:
I'm concerned whether Dell is using the same SPVA panel with the improved high gamut backlight or will the HC have all new hardware. I think it has been mentioned before in this forum that the owner's manual for the HC is online although the monitor is not yet listed as being available for sale. I have looked at the manuals for the new and old monitors and the few specs that are shown are identical except for brightness, the HC being 400 and the old model 450 cd/m. Would the lower brightness for the HC be reasonable given its new level of backlighting?
I realize I'm trying to make too much from too little data but I'm so enthralled by the high gamut feature that I want to buy the Dell as soon as it is released. I'm just looking for comfort that other than the altered backlighting the other hardware will be of similar make and quality.
Any thoughts will be appreciated.

The backlight is part of the panel. It is not something that can be swapped. Here is an example: Samsung has 2 distinct 22-inch widescreen panels (panels, not monitors).

LTM220M1 has 72% color gamut

LTM220M2 has 92% color gamut

So we should expect that there exists somewhere a 24-inch panel with 92% color gamut.

Samsung lists only one 24-inch S-PVA panel, and it has 72% color gamut

Even their new 24-inch TN has only 72% gamut

I have also looked on the web sites of the major panel makers, AUOptronics, LG-Philips and ChiMei Optoelectronics, and found no 24-inch panel with extended color gamut. So this is a mystery to me...What panel is going to appear in the Dell 2407-HC?

The Dell 2407 has the Samsung S-PVA panel listed above. From my understanding of things, the panel and the backlight are one unit. There has too be a different unit available somewhere for a wide color gamut monitor

Thanks BernardP for doing legwork on my Dell HC question. So the Dell panel is a mystery. One of my main concerns was whether the new panel might be a TN. I hope not. But with the viewing angle being 178 degrees both horizontal & vertical I suspect it will be a PVA type.

Something might be happening at Dell, they just reduced the price of the 2407WFP down to $579 and they dropped the price on the 30" WFP-HC down to $1269 which is below the price of the 27" which is priced at $1299.

Not at dell but at Samsung, Gateway 24" that uses Samsung's S-PVA also dropped to that price.

Good point. Likely they have to stay competitive with P-MVA/A-MVA panels from AUOptronics used in new monitors from LG, Viewsonic and others.

The 2407 dropped from $850 to $800 in Canada recently. If Samsung could drop the price of the panel, I wish Dell just kept the price the same and joined in with BenQ, Samsung and Viewsonic (I think all 3 do it) and started zero dead pixel policies for the first few weeks of ownership. Lying and a very flexible return policy just aren't the same... That and 5 returns shipping 30 lbs by courier back and forth gotta add up too.

I got a 2407WFP for $649 Canadian on sale during Dell Days of Deals shipped a month ago from Dell.ca, I thought it's down to $750 now normally?

I haven't heard of the 2407-HC panel, what the difference between the 2407 and the HD? There's a very good chance I'll be buying a 2407 panel in early June.

I think you'll need a Crossfire or SLI setup for that, though older games will work quite well on single cards. Each new game that comes out is going to make you want to upgrade your graphics card.
