I've often gone to Micro Center and found discounted (open box) motherboards selling for $40 to $60 each. I've got my eye on the Intel Core I3 12100F once it comes in stock.

Does anyone know if you can combine a cpu and one of the open box motherboards, and still get the $20 combo discount when checking out?

Thanks!

I don’t think so, but you can reserve online and usually if the discount is going to work, it will work there.

That said, I don’t like trusting those boards especially now that the pins are on the boards. I don’t trust the people who return used motherboards that much!

Can you take a magnifying glass and look at the pins on the board, to make sure they are lined up correctly? I used to do that with processors......

at my local PC parts store they actually inspect any Intel board in front of you before they ring it up. You can even take a pic if you want.
