There are lots of suggestions via Google on how to make this change. When I loaded the RTM a couple of months ago, I had to make several changes and found a lot of great tips here:

You can make the Win 7 task bar work just like Vista's, but I suggest you try working with Win 7's the way it is. When I first installed the Win 7 beta, I immediately wanted my old task bar back, but after learning how to use the new one I have opted to keep it the way MS made it.

The kicker for me was that I initially didn't know how to open multiple instances of the same application from the 'quick launch', but all you have to do it hit shift and click the icon.

...of course, it's up to you, but why not give MS + almost a year of open beta testing the benefit of the doubt? If the new task bar really sucked, don't you think they would have changed it back?

Or right click and click on the program name.

Or middle-click the button.

I think that may be part of the thing with Win 7... The interface is significantly different enough that it isn't completely obvious how to use all the features out of the box. Either way, i still suggest people try the interface out as intended prior to making it behave like Vista/XP.

Thanks i did a google search for edit windows 7 task bar instead of adding the words quick launch which is why i kept coming up empty. Thanks for the help.
