Question on Vista Updates

I usually keep Windows Updater on, but I have it set to ask me which updates to download and install. There is one that keeps popping up that is annoying me. With XP, when I deselected an update, it gave me the option to exclude it from future searches and would not ask me about that update again. With Vista, it persists on telling me that the same update is available.

Mainly, I want the updater icon in the System Tray to be removed and to stop telling me that there is a new Malicious Software Removal Tool available for download. I don't want to turn off my automatic updater, but the constant little pop-up bubble telling me that new updates are available is getting extremely annoying.

Any way to fix this problem?

I don't know a way to hide the tray icon but keep automatic updates on. Only thing I could recommend is just turning off automatic updates and doing it manually once in a while, but you said you don't want to do that.

Did ya try RIGHT clicking on the update and selecting "hide update"?

Yes, and about five minutes later the damn thing comes back up with the exact same update as before.
