I have a 100gb hard drive. Right now I have two partitions. I just looked in Computer Management, and it says C: 55.30 GB NTFS, then next to it, is another group that says D: 37.20GB and one joined with that group saying 675 MB Free Space. What is this "Free Space?" When I right click it, only thing that I can select is "New Simple Volume" or "Help." I had UBuntu on and it made 2 partitions, and I delelted / merged the first one onto the c partition.

I'm a bit of a noob, so take this with a grain of salt...I think Ubuntu creates a partition for the swap file. That's probably what that is. I'd use gparted on the Ubuntu disc to merge that space with one of your other partitions.

Windows should list any Linux partitions as used, right clicking on them in the disk management tool should just give you an option to delete them not create a new one.
