Question on upgrade paths..which 1 to take....

I have a Pentium 4 3ghz and my dilemma is when i recently bought a Dell 20" LCD the 9800XT is a little stuttery when running games at 1600x 1200 native resolution.

which path should i choose to walk down.....

Upgrade my video card to a 6800GT agp

or

Save up and upgrade my cpu and switch over to PCIe ...

Now i understand thats gonna be more expensive but is it possible to still get good frame rates by using a 6800GT agp on a P4 3ghz ?
Am I gonna notice much difference or is it going to be bottlenecked by the cpu ?

a lot of questions i know but im in need of advice.

6800GT. No bottlenecking, I don't think.

I'd go with the video card; a 3.0 is pretty solid for right now.
