Question on turning up Dragon + sound

Ok, heres the deal. Not sure when exactly it happened, but a few days ago, I noticed that my songs no longer play as loud as they once did, nor do my games play as loud. I use the built in sound on my Soyo Dragon +. I double clicked on the speaker in the bottom right corner and everything is too the max, along with winamp, and my speakers. Could there be a problem with the on-board sound? or is there another setting I should try to fix? thanks in advance.
