Question on Toshiba Tecra 8000 + Laptop

Hey guys,

I just got the 8100 series laptop from Toshiba from a local dude. I've been copying files all night into it (for a couple hours off and on) and the laptop is blazing hot on the bottom. Is that normal for this series or Mobile p3's in general? I mean it's as hot as the cement on a Southern Cali hot day kinda hot. Any info would be appreciated.

Yes, I have found the Toshiba Tecra 8000 series to be VERY hot on the bottom. Laptop components have a higher tolerance for temperatures and are designed to run like that. Just put your hand near the fan vent....it's like a mini-heater (great for a cold day though...)

Whew. Thanks Andy. That's good reassurance to know. The odd thing is that my older Portege 7020CT was barely warm at most that's why this came as such a shock.

I suppose the jump from p2 - p3 and 300 - 500 makes it pretty danged hot.
