Question on Thunderbolt Daisy Chaining

I just purchased an Intel NUC system with a Thunderbolt port. I also have a Dell monitor with a Displayport interface. My question is can I daisy-chain a Thunderbolt storage device in between the two? My only concern is that the monitor is DisplayPort and not Thunderbolt.
