question on the +12v

Hello all, I have recently bought a antec TruePowerII 550 watts psu from zipzoomfly.com. The thing is that I see 11.78 on the +12v from my speedfan and my bios. And as soon as I load a game, it drops down to 11.58 and sometimes 11.51, could someone confirm to me if that's normal or something is wrong with it. thanks in advance.

Software generated voltage readings are worth very little. A DMM must be used to take readings.

Generally voltage will increase as loading moves from 10% to 65%, then drop as loading of the PSU reaches full output, while staying within spec.

Anyone who opens a comp should have atleast one $15 DMM. 😉

does anyone else has similar problem on the reading of their +12v rail? people with the same psu as I have, could you tell me what your readings are on the +12v?

Did you check it with a DMM yet? Remember, the PSU only worries about delivering the right voltage to the motherboard's connectors; what happens to it on the other side of that interface is the motherboard's deal. And guess which side of that interface your BIOS is getting its readings from... 😉 yeah.

If you don't have your motherboard's 4-pin Molex-style power receptacle hooked up, in addition to the ATX12V and the 24-pin ATX cable, hook that up too. Couldn't hurt to provide another 12V line. It's the one just above your top PCI-Express slot, towards the rear.

Thats not going to matter that you find others with the same PSU...
There really are way too many variables for you to compare with somebody else!

Just get yourself a DMM and check the darn thing....
Thats the simple solution!
