Question on SSd results 4K?

Hey I have a Corsair Performance 3 256gb. The mobo is an Asus P8P67 deluxe and its on the intel sata III(6g) port (achi). As far as benchmarking i get

Crystal disk mark 4k qd32 69 MB/s read 42 MB/s write
As SSd 4k-64 Thrd 67 MB/s read 43 MB/s write

Can someone explain what these low marks mean? I tried wiki and just cant seem to find an explanation/definition of 4k qd32 and 4k-64Thrd

How do they relate to everyday usage? I just don't understand the 4k thing.

4k is the size of what it's reading. 4k is a small file.
4k-64 Thrd means 4k 64 threads. 64 simultaneous requests for 4k of data.
4k qd32 means 4k 32 queue depth. There are 32 requests in line for 4k of data.

You'll have to compare your score to a site that reviewed your SSD to see if it's lower than normal. Being off ~5% is fine. It can be hard to get consistent benchmarks from SSDs unless they really know how to do so and it isn't fun to do it right.

The high queue depth and high thread count 4k metrics you mentioned aren't realistic for everyday use. Everyday use is closer to 1-3 depth. You can find out yourself in Vista/7 Task Manager's Resource Monitor. There is a Disk tab where by default MS displays a graph of your queue depth on the right side.

hmmm?.. I'm curious how you know/percieve that measurement as q-depth, razel.

Mine simply shows KB/s based upon all the totals broken down in the detailed I/O disk activity. Never heard anyone refer to it as q-depth before.
 
Interesting, mine is showing as 'queue length,' below the disk graph which shows as mb/sec. Perhaps queue length is not shown by default.

OK. I figured it out. I had the overview tab selected. You have to click the disk tab at top to change the graphs to show the q-length.

Thanks for that and I learned something new today. Problem is.. it probably pushed 2 other things out of my memory now. 😀
