Question on soda and nitrogen chargers(cartridges)

they're not the same. the nitrogen is used for cream ales. it'll create finer bubbles. the bubbles in guiness, for example, are finer since it's a mixture of CO2 and N2.

Thanks anyone know a good source of nitrogen carts than?

I bought 8g whippets for my Tap-A-Draft straight from the manufacturer. They seemed to offer a good price compared to other places I looked.
Birch beer is pretty awesome when you tap it with nitrous.

Oh and I'm pretty sure in this case N2 is used interchangeably with N2O.

Thanks jzero. What do you think of the tap a draft? Just going to be bottling my first batch with it(a raspberry wheat) might try to use it to force carbonate it, but not sure yet😛 Its only had two weeks in the secondary so not sure on the flavor.

I started brewing when my wife got me something called "The Beer Machine", which is different from what you linked but very similar in concept (also uses the cartridges for carbonation). I never thought the taste was quite as good as bottle fermentation, but not awful by any means. In fact, I'm probably going to revive it soon because I'm kind of in the mood to brew but I really don't have time to fill bottles. Also I don't drink very often any more so it takes me forever to finish two cases.

Thats what I was kind of thinking I might force one and let the other carbonate naturally and compare them. Figure I should only have to bottle 12 or so than.

Sorry - I forgot about this thread.
I haven't used the Tap-A-Draft for beer yet, just soda, but it works very well, especially for the price. One thing you can do is naturally carbonate part of a patch and force-carbonate the rest. SBG sells a special pressure-release cap for the 6L PET bottle to lower the risk of exploding bottles, so you can put some of a batch in one bottle and force-carbonate it and put some of the batch in another bottle to carbonate naturally, presumably while you finish the force-carbonated bottle you've got in the fridge.
