huh? I'm basing a lot of what I said off the numbers... namely that other forums have grown much faster than Anandtech. Is it likely AT forums will collapse? No. It's highly unlikely. But it is more likely they will become increasingly irrelevant.

I dunno why it sounds like you take what I said personally, using the rolling eyes at me is just going to make me less inclined to even bother posting in this forum. I thought you guys would appreciate some feedback, but maybe I'm mistaken.

Probably because the theme in this thread seems to be that the moderation is a main reason that this site hasn't achieved it's potential. I don't think that's it as most of the moderation takes place in either OT or P&N, two forums that were created to keep the nonsense out of the Tech Forums which this site is was built around and is supposedly the strong point of Anandtech. The sites that have the largest growth are not centered around politics and general chat.

BlinderBomber still raised a very good point that the community should not be taken for granted as thats what keeps this site afloat. Obviously, that's not something really in the mods hands, and as far as most of us are concerned, and I suspect why HQ keeps you for so long is that you guys are doing a good job moderating these forums. No-ones perfect, but there is still room for improvement. Not that I really care, but others have voiced their opinions, and Hzl and Harvey could/should definately improve their moderation by being more impartial. Especially Harvey...

Hzl's new and learning ( she tries hard and takes the time to ask questions) and with Harvey, the good he does in the For Sale forum, a forum that actually counts, makes up for his posts in P&N and as far as his impartiality goes he doesn't moderate P&N so that's not in question.

Wow, you couldn't have asked for a better example of the problems that people are complaining about than that. Unfortunately, the only thing that you can do is send Derek a PM, and like others have said, he's MIA. You might as well just resign yourself to dealing with bullshit like that, find another forum, or just stay out of P&N and enjoy the other AT forums. Personally, I find myself spending less and less time in P&N, which is probably a good thing.

Hmmm, I didn't see that or I wouldn't have posted what I did. All I can say is that from my perspective is that I never see him moderate that forum as he almost always comes to me, CC or another Mod when there is a thread or post in question.

The problem with P&N is not the moderation, it's the members that post there. You guys have so much disdain for each other that it's nearly impossible for any civil debate to occur. All an outsider has to do is spend 15 minutes in there and they'd feel the outright hatred between the two groups. There's nothing a Moderator can do to change that.

If you actually look at my thread, the locked one, you will see that the title is rather accurate. Randi Rhodes did fall on her face. And a left wing radio host literally accused the 'right wing' of mugging her.
