Question on refresh rate and LCD's

Ok, I currently own an analog Viewsonic VA520 LCD monitor (15 inch). I am thinking about getting the sony sdm-x73 17 inch LCD which has DVI which I would use. However, I need to be cleared up on the refresh rate thing. I always thought that the max refresh rate on the monitor always made the screen look better...at least this is the case on CRT's. However, I was told by Viewsonic that it'd be best if I run it at 60 hz, not at the max 75 hz, because 60 hz is the native refresh rate. However, when i look at monitor specs, I NEVER see a native refresh rate listed, I just see native resolution. So can someone clear this up for me? Is there a native refresh and should you not run your LCD refresh at the max rate? Also, does the same go for if you use DVI connection?

LCD's dont refresh (that's why they are easier on the eyes) so they wont have a native refresh rate.

So you're saying it wouldn't matter what refresh rate you set it to, it wouldn't make a difference?
