So, today while I was work reading my email, I noticed a stinging sensation on my upper thigh. I ignored it while I finished reading my email -- maybe 1-2 minutes.

Then I realized the stinging was getting worse, and no amount of rubbing/scratching was helping.

It turns out that I had carried a spare AAA nimh battery to work in my pocket -- along with my keys and a few pennies in change.
With all that metal in my pocket, the battery was shorting -- and getting VERY hot.

The battery was too hot to touch for more than a couple seconds -- and I nearly burnt my fingers getting it out of my pocket.

Question: Is the battery stll good? Damaged? Is recharging it now a greater risk?

I don't know, try it and see what happens.

Try it in one of the "rapid" chargers so that it gets really hot again and see if it asploads.

I don't know that charging it would be a risk. I think the worst "risk" would be that it simply won't take a charge, or that its capacity has been greatly reduced.

And don't store batteries around conductive material.
