Question on Ram

Doods

Member
Hi i'm building a new machine and was wondering if DDR 2700/333 will work in the new boards that are coming out or do i have to get DDr 4400 thanks

No, you shouldn't have to have DDR400. The detailed specs for these boards should say which DDR speeds it supports. Most of the DDR400 ones I've seen support 266,333,400. I'm no expert at this, but just look at the detailed specs for the boards you're looking at.

RAM has to match or be rated higher then your processor bus. If you're going to get a processor with a 333MHz bus then 2700/333MHz will be fine (or 3000(375MHz)/3200(400MHz)/3500(433MHz)).

If you're going to start with a processor that support 333MHz bus and then switch to a processor with a 400MHz bus down the road ( in a year or something) then you may as well only buy RAM once and get the 3200(400MHz) now.
