Question on raid 1 and windows update

Have a sager notebook that's stuck for hours updating windows and i have a suspicion it might be a problem with the ssd raid1. I was thinking of pulling one of the ssds and trying the update. If i do this and it works when i put the second ssd back will the system know the ssd with the fixed update is the drive with the proper image?
If so how...by datestamp?

Easiest way would be, if it works with just the one drive, then format the other drive before re-insertting. But I am curios to know what makes you think the array is the problem? Where did you create the array (in Windows or elsewhere)?
