Question on Quantum HD

I recently got a hold of a Quantum Fireball Plus LM 30 GB. It was a dell pull. I have checked the jumper settings over and over again, but it still comes up as a slave drive(it is the only HD in box and I have it on the master IDE chain). I have tried master and cable select settings but no luck. That wouldn't be a problem but when I turn the comp on it wants to scan disk everytime. I have let it run scan disk and it finds no problems.

Any ideas?

Check the bottom of the drive. The Quantum markings are DS, CS and PK. The jumper should be on the DS pins.

I have done that over and over again. Thinking I was screwing it up some how.

OK I got a different jumper and that did the trick, but I still get the scandisk at start up.
