hey i was reading an article earlier that said if your processor isnt good than that will hold back your graphics, so i was wondering, will the AMD Athlon 64 3800+ X2 hold back a GeForce 7800GT or higher, and also if anyone knows if that Processor is a good gaming processor.
thanks

For most graphic intense games the GPU will be the limiting factor although the CPU will always have an effect on framerate (except maby in HL2).

The 3800+ is a good processor. It's good even at stock speeds. If you plan on OCing then it's even better.

But to answer your question a 7800GT+3800+ = A dam fine gaming machine.

QFT.

CPU will only be a factor using Athlon XPs.

Like my 2800+. But its a good thing I'm building a new one (look at sig).

But yea, 3800+ is probably the best deal on a DC processor that you can get (except maby an opteron). It OC's well too.

And the 7800GT is also the best bang for the buck video card. AT THE MOMENT I really couldn't recommend anything else.
