If you preorder from an online vendor, do they wait until the actual release date before shipping the game?
If so, I'm going to preorder from a B&M store because I definitely want this game on the release day, not several days later.

They can't ship it until they get it, which would be the release date. You'd have to wait a few days after due to shipping.

I know that sometimes stores get games, books, movies, etc. before the official release date. They just aren't allowed to sell them before that date. So I was wondering if maybe they were allowed to ship games before the release date.

These days, online stores like EB and Gamestop have started shipping next day air orders the day before the game offically goes on sale. They've done this with MMOGs atleast.

I worked for a Media Play and we received shipments sometimes 2-3 weeks in advance of a release date. I'm under the impression that most online stores ship so that you receive the item ON the release date.

Yeah true. When I preordered UT2003 from ebgames.com I had to wait a couple days after the release date to play it. Now I've got UT2004 preordered, I can only hope they send it of earlier this time around.

I've preordered stuff from EBgames.com and the shipping date was set for like 7/25/03 and it was at my house first thing in the morning 7/25/03. Other times I preordered stuff it ships the day or day after its been released so it takes 2 or 3 days after its been put out on shelves to get to me. If you want the game the day it comes out its probably best to preorder at a B&M store

Hmmm.
There is a Software, Etc. and an EB Games store in my town, so maybe I'll just preorder from them.

Well, one of my friends is also a big BF fan. Most nights I play, I call him on the phone and we join the same server and play together.

I know he will have BF:V on the release day, and I can't let him get the jump on me.:D

yeah, i know that EB games (website) is pretty good about getting you preordered games on the day they're released... for instance, i preordered GTA:VC for PS2, and the day it was released, i woke up, did the normal morning thing, and went downstairs as the UPS truck had just parked in the road to bring me my game... this happened at about 10:30 in the morning, so i'd say that preordering from EB Games is a pretty safe bet.
