i have built a computer for my mother. She said she had random reboots on the machine. I bought her a generic power supply. I noticed that the 12 volt rail was around 11.75 is this a reason for the random reboots since as i understand it the 12 rail supports the processor. I also have the same motherboard and processor and my 12 volt is at 12.05-12.11. Could this be the problem any help would be appreciated.

11.75 is not too low. If the reading varies alot (say 11.3-11.9) then you might have a problem. Both my name brand power supplies vary from 11.7-11.86. Random reboots can also be caused by a memory problem. What brand and type of memory are you running?

It sounds like a memory problem. I would run a memtest and see if you have a bad stick.

some motherboards can get picky about even small rail fluctuations (or even brands of psu's)

put your psu in her system for a day and see if that fixes it

good luck
