Question on power supply connector

Hi

Have a couple of questions on power supplies and connector.

1) I have a Cooler Master [RP-500-PCAR] power supply that I intended to use on a EVGA SLI 750 FTW Motherboard. It has ONE 4pin CPU+12V connector. This will make this PS incompatible with the MB [correct ?] as the MB has a 8pin CPU+12V port on it ??

2) If a PS as TWO 4pin CPU+12V connectors then they would both have to be connected to the 8pin CPU+12V connector, right ?

3) Any recommendations for an affordable [and quiet] PS to be used with a EVGA SLI 750 FTW motherboard which will have to drive two EVGA 9600GS cards in SLI mode ?

No, the 4-pin ATX12V will plug into half of the 8-pin mobo connector.

It wouldn't be configured like that. There aren't any PSUs with two 4-pin ATX12V connectors. Some have both 4-pin and 8-pin, and some only have 8-pin (?). If the mobo takes an 8-pin, and the PSU provides an 8-pin, then use those and ignore the 4-pin. Otherwise, plug the 4-pin PSU connector into half of the mobo 8-pin connector.

Antec EarthWatts 650 has both PCI-E 6-pin and 6+2-pin connectors.

No, the 4-pin ATX12V will plug into half of the 8-pin mobo connector.

Ok. I have a BFG Tech 650W PS that says it has 1 x 4+4 Pin 12V ATX/EPS Connector. Thats the one that I was referring to that looked to me as 2 of the 4pin connectors. In that case I should be using only one of them to connect to the 8-port on the MB ? I am assuming I can use either [left or right] 4pins on the 8pin MB port right ?

That is a split 8 pin, meaning if your board takes an 8 pin, plug the whole thing in. If your board takes a 4 pin, split it in two and plug in one half.
