im kinda not a techie person, but i've run into a problem with my drive. i'm wondering how partitions work. basically what happened is : i had 3 partitions on a 60gb drive, and now all 3 are recognized as drives in windows, but only 2 are readable. the other is "not formatted" and therefore unaccessible.

someone told me that if the partition table is the only thing messed up, then i might have a chance at getting my files back. someone else suggested a utilities program or two. i'm wondering the likelyhood that the partition table is the only thing messed. the drives are sitting outside my computer right now (im in the middle of upgrading) but i dont think there have beeen any magnets nearby or anything weird like that. the drives arent perfectly horizontal or vertical or anything, i dont know if that matters.

does anyone know how a situation like this would occur? how does one partition get messed up without the other ones dying, too? thx for your help on this :)
