question on packaging and shipping

I recently sold a guitar amp on fleabay so now I have to ship it, but I went to the nearest box bros, and just the boxes and packing was easily over $20!! I guess I can find a box somewhere else but whats the easiest and cheapest way to package the amp? I'm planning to use ground shipping from LA, CA to somewhere in AZ.

Go to your local Staples B&M store, pay their $5.00 fee & they will pack it for you and ship it via the UPS service you choose be it Ground, Next Day, Second Day Air, etc. Make sure you choose to insure it and you're covered JMaster 🙂

You may be able to get boxes from a local department store. Most places recycle cardboard boxes. If you know anyone that works for such a place, ask. Something heavy like an amp I would double box and pay particular attention to the corners. Also, tape all of the seams and flaps and also run tape along each edge. Most carriers don't take great care with packages, and seams bust open. If you didn't specify in your auction that the buyer pays shipping and insurance fees, your stuck with the cost. I would definately insure the package for the value of the auction. Good luck!
