question on my current PSU

I upgraded my card to a 4870 and when I game , the computer PUS fan fires up pretty high. Making my silent puc sounding like a low hire dryer. It could be that my computer is super quiet.

I have a Corsair VX 550w and the Sapphire 4870 vapor card. My case is a Lian-li A05B so the PUS is very close to my left ear around 2 feet away.

Am I just over sensitive to the sound? I don't notice to much if I play music or games just when the room is quiet and I sit really close to the computer.

My PSU is being taxed and I could purchase a bigger unit. I just purchased the current one a month ago.

Fans are going to make some noise. If you can't hear it over moderate level game noise then I wouldn't worry about it.

I can hear it but not as bad as if the room is quiet. My case is kinda quiet and I was just worried that I'm taxing my PSU to much because of the new card. My old card was a x850 xt.
