Question on MGS Legacy Collection for PS3

Since I can't really get a straight answer on other sites, I'm hoping someone here has some information. It was recently brought to my attention that the MGS series (and a few others) are available on the PS3. When I started to look up pricing, I found there's a MGS HD Collection and a MGS Legacy Collection. The Legacy appears to have a lot more games available, but my concern is how well they've been ported/rebuilt. I still have all my old consoles with the exception of my 360 (ten years old and the power pack finally died), so if the ports have glaring issues, I'd rather just connect my older consoles and play the versions I already have.

So, does anyone have any experience with this collection in contrast to their SNES/PSX/PS2/XBox counterparts?

I think the hardest issue that comes from these games (at least for the PS2 / PS3 era games) on modern hardware is that the modern hardware does not support pressure sensitive buttons anymore. You will be better off playing the originals on consoles that have support for those features on a PS3 console (with appropriate dual-shock 3 controller). I don't remember a legacy collection or master collection for the Gamecube, only "The Twin Snakes" which was essentially a remastered Metal Gear Solid using the tech from MGS2:Sons of Liberty on Gamecube (I am pretty sure I have it, but I am also pretty sure I only have a sealled copy which I am not about to open, since it goes for $700-3000 depending on condition).

Yeah, the pressure-sensitive buttons thing is definitely a big deal for those old PS2/PS3 games. Modern controllers just don’t have that same feel, and it’s a huge part of the gameplay for some of those classics. I think the triggers on PS 5 are pretty well done in terms of pressure sensitivity, but I would like to get a lot more . As for the Gamecube, yeah, "The Twin Snakes" was basically MGS1 on the MGS2 engine, but I think you’re right that there’s no full collection like the Legacy Collection on PS3. And wow, keeping a sealed copy? That’s some serious collector dedication! I hope it will cost even more in the future

Hahaha.... actually it wasn't so much of a serious collector dedication as it was simply me never having time to play it when I bought it, as I was working a full time job at that point while also finishing up college (my college had a work/study/co-op program and the company I worked for on my last rotation asked to hire me full time before I even graduated). So a lot of games that I picked up around that time sat, with me creating an ever growing backlog of games....
