Question on MB's

Looking to upgrade my system this month and need a bit of information

Looking seriously at changing Mother boards this time around and want some imput on some of the features.

the mother board is:

Asus A7V266-E KT266A Chipset 266/200MHz FSB Motherboard with Raid and Sound

Question is ...How does the integrated sound and raid work. Not to concerned with the raid controller issue, I know how raid works and can easily set it up. But concern is the onboard sound. I currently have a SB live card and want to know basiclly if the on board sound is more a hassle or better in terms of convience. Does the on board sound work with most everything or am I going to run into compatibility issues and such ?

perfectfit is kinda right 🙂

most via motherboards with onboard sound just use the audio codec '97 which kinda sucks, but..... not all boards use it

the a7v266-e has c-media 6 channel sound (the same chip thats used in my sound card, but asus has it on the motherboard)

AC'97 sucks, but A7V266-E doesn't use it. It uses like Boonesmi said, a c-media chip that is decent. I wouldn't hesitate to use it unless you allready have or need an Audigy.

Thank for the comments.

As far as I can research and tell that Asus A7V266-E is the board I will be moving to.

thanks again
