Question on Lease contract

OutHouse

Lifer
I have been working on subleasing a place to start my business. I stopped by the place and meet with the office manager to talk about the lease and to see the room. She said she wants the First month, last months and the current months rent.

Isnt the first months rent as the same as the current months rent?

I bet she means if you moved in halfway through the month you would owe a pro-rated amount. Thats the only thing I can think of.

Im looking to move in on 1 Feb. my rent will be $500 a month, so shouldnt i just have to write her a check for $1000 for the first and last months rent?

she did say that if i moved in this month she would prorate Jan but that does not include the $1500 she is wanting.
