question on intel price cuts

You've got to put the boot to AMD before hammer time . . . and convince people they need 2.8 GHz to play counter-strike and deer hunter IX 🙂

I'm looking forward to the 2.4 & 2.53 coming down in price, though I'll probably wait since my old p3-933 is humming along just fine.

AMD has to convince people they need a 64-bit chip to play Counter-Strike and Deer Hunter IX. 🙂

And if they're the only 64-bit players in the market, I doubt it'll be the budget chip that AMD has become known for. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw pricing closer to Intel's.

Just my own personal opinion. Read sig below.

With Clawhammer intended to fit into the AthlonXP niche eventually, I'd hope they are planning to make it sub-$350. As for the topic at hand, here's a quote from an article at The Inquirer that may be relevant to you:

The Intel product dealer newsletter points to these different price cuts and new introductions.

Those details are essentially the same as we published in late July here, for desktops, here, for servers, and here, for notebooks.

There's some desktop pricing information, in detail, in this story. And there are more pricing details on this page.

Intel tells its resellers that "there may be price moves on products that are not included in this list in order to respond to changing market dynamics".
