Question on installing USB motherboard header cables w/ bracket

I'd like to make use of the 4 unused usb ports on my motherboard. When looking for usb motherboard cables, I see things like this:
http://dx.com/p/4-port-usb-rear-bracket-adapter-for-desktop-computer-15cm-cable-50769
This bracket makes it look like it would fit into a card slot, but I don't won't to fit it into any card slot (I only have one free at the moment and anticipate using it sometime in the future with a card). What I do have free are 2 metal plates towards the bottom of the case that can easily be punched out with a screwdriver. They are approximately 8 cm each. They lack the kind of thing where the "L" part of the bracket I linked to would or could attach. They do have 2 holes to the left and right of the plates where a screw could fit it - the center of the holes are approximately .5 centimeters from each side of the plate (can provide picture if requested but the computer is a Pavilion a6177c).

So can I use the product I linked to and bend the "L" to straighten it out, and then use those screws to the left and right of the USB ports to secure it to the holes I mentioned, or am I looking at the wrong product? If wrong, what should I get? I'd prefer to have all 4 USB ports on 1 bracket b/c I may decide to pop out the second metal plate and put in a game/MIDI port bracket

You might even be able to just unscrew the ports from the bracket itself and just use that. Pics of the proposed location?

Here are pics of outside and inside the case:

Interesting. Maybe you can just unscrew the bracket? Tough to say. would it be worth your $5 to find out?
