Hi,

Just got a 3Com router yesterday and try to set it up last nite.
I plug in my 1st system let the TCPIP TO obtain the IP address automatic, it connect to the internet right away.
Than I plug in my 2nd system and do the same on TCPIP, it connect to the internet as well.
The problem is after I plug in my 2nd system, it steal the connect from my 1st system and my 1st system can't connect to the internet.

I know the problem is on the TCPIP, but not sure how to fix it.
On the 1st system I use Win ME and the 2nd system I use Win 98.

Please advise.

This does NOT sound like a TCP/IP problem. To check, however, check your IP addresses on your LAN and try pinging each of the comps from each other. My guess is there is something amiss in your router, however unlikely that may be. I prefer to setup my LANs manually. This makes troubleshooting easier. DHCP is nice for large networks where multiple computers are signing on and off, but it has few benefits for a small LAN. You might try a manual/static lan if all else fails, but first just do the simple diagnostics of ping<ip address> ping<comp name> and tracert<ip address> YOu may find a collision that you didin't expect. Get back to me with how it is going.
As Always,
