I just purchased a Leadtek geforce 2 Pro 64 meg card and i finally got it working quite well with my Asus P3V4X mobo.

here is the problem tho..

1)Cannot do 4X AGP

2)Cannot enable Fast writes or it corrupts the registry

I have done searches on this BBS and have found out there is a problem with my Via motherboard and 4X agp stability.

Would these problems be resolved if I switched over to an Intel 815 chipset mobo? Is it worth the hassle?

the 815 chipset does do AGPx4 transfers but in real world situations, you won't see or appreciate the difference between AGPX2 & AGPX4 transfers so I suggest you stick with your present m/board unless there are other serious problems with the board that you can't live with!

You might want to try and fiddle with some settings a little more to see if you can fix your problem because I have the exact same mobo as you and a Hercules Geforce2 Pro 64MB video card, and I haven't had any problems with AGP 4X or fast writes.

While these problems may bug you I wouldn't worry to much about them. The difference between 2x and 4x is barely anything. Fast Writes also don't help preformance too much. (Some argue that it takes away preformance, which, in your case it clearly does).

Then again, it may bug you that is does not work. You may want to contact Leadtek.

the only thing fast writes seem to do is hurt stability and performance in most cases so I wouldn't worry about that and AGP4X is all hype with little to no substance.
Your not going to notice much positive influence from either of them so I wouldnt bother with it.
