Question on FSB speed

Just a general question: say I have system with a 1600MHz-bus processor that runs at 3.0GHz and I have the exact same system with a 1333MHZ-bus processor (same generation) that runs at the same 3.0GHz. Assuming no overclocking or anything like that. Is there a benefit to the former system over the latter, all else equal?

As I understand it, front side bus hasn't existed since memory controllers became integrated. Are we talking about Core2Duo era chips?

If you have memory fast enough to match the increase in bandwidth of FSB you will gain increased memory bandwidth which usually doesn't provide much of a performance gain but in some cases it might like Winrar overall there shouldn't be more than 0-5% performance difference.

Thanks!

I had a pair of Xeon 3.33ghz processors with a 1333mhz fsb I got a sweet deal on a matched set of Xeon 3.40ghz with a 1600fsb and swapped out the 3.33ghz for the 3.40ghz.

Using Cinebench I got a score of 7.88 on the 3.33 ghz processors and a score of 8.11 on the 3.40ghz. So with the addition of 0.07 ghz processor speed and the additional fsb speed the performance improvement was nominal.
