question on dual-core processors

do dual-core processors imply 2 fans? i have a laptop that's been running extremely hot, and i know one fan is working, just wondering if maybe a second fan died or something.

The number of cores in the processor has no relation to the number of fans in the system.

what does "extremely tough" even mean?
If it is loud and noisy, maybe the fans are clogged with dust, failing due to age, or whatever. And might require some servicing.

sorry, i meant to say extremely hot. like i can feel intense heat from the keyboards. i dont know how many fans there are, but i know one fan is working. it wasnt always like this.
