Question on Canon A40

I just put a 512 MB CF card in and it recognizes it as 485 MB. Anybody have any idea why?

It formats it..... I think my 128mb card shows up as 112.

OT of your subject but hows the A40? I had an A10 and I loved it, Im looking at getting a new camera and was going to go for the A40.

I like the A40 fine. I'm still getting used to it, just playing around.

I wasn't sure the 512 MB CF card would be compatible, but apparently it is.

I wanted to be able to take photos in higher resolutions just in case I wanted to blow some of them up.

maybe cf makers use the same 1,000,000 bytes=1MB as hard drive do. but in that case it should be 488MB.
