Question on ATI crossfire

I'd like to get a x1900 but it will probably be a while before I'm ready to add a second card - not sure if I have to buy the crossfire edition. I might wait if the dual GPU single card solutions will be common soon.

Do you have to buy a "crossfire" version of an ati card to add a second card down the road?

If you buy a crossfire card do you have to use two cards?

Also I'd probably want to know the same questions about SLI in case I go nVidia.

I know to use crossfire you have to buy a master card or a cross-fire ed card. If your not going cross fire then a non-crossfire card will work. Im pretty sure that if you do buy a cross fire card then you do not have two cards right off. Im not a 100 % sure on this since i have never used ATI's crossfire before.

I have used SLI and all you have to do is have an sli ready card. There is no master card or anything. Just make sure both your cards are sli ready and they are connected by a bridge that should have been supplied with your motherboard . And of corse your motheboard has to support sli.
