Question on AS3 and a 1.6a

Hey,

Im about to apply arctic silver 3 to my 1.6a. I just cleaned off the pad and am ready to go.. but I have a
few questions first.

I dont know what exact area of the heatsink is going to touch the chip. Can I just rub it on the heatsink
in the general area - a bigger area than the chip - to play it safe? Will it hurt anything?

Theres a small hole on top of the chip.. how do I apply the AS3 without getting it in there? Am I not supposed
to cover the entire top of the chip or what?

Thanks for the help!

And if you get AS into the hole in the heat spreader, don't worry about it... It's not going to hurt anything.

Yes its ok if you apply AS3 in the general area on the heatsink in the middle just don't go too much over the surface that the CPU covers.Let it dry 10-15 minutes and rub it off hard.I use a razor blade for the CPU and work it around the hole. With the blade you can spread it thin like its suppose to be,like paint.Hold the blade around a 45 degree angle to spread it.
