First, I woulda pm'd the poster, but it doesn't seem to allow me to, and I'm not sure if it's just a mod under a different name or something else, so I apologize for posting a little off topic, but this has been getting my goat lately.

In the sticky above, can someone explain to me why a $505 RadeonXT + $8 for ground shipping at Atacom is "hot", when the first retailer I compared to (newegg) was selling for $499 with free fedex shipping? If this is paid advertising, please call it what it is. If it's not, then it shouldn't be locked, and others should be allowed to comment on it's coldness. My .02. Hope it doesn't get anyones panties in a rut.

PS, the only reason I singled out the 9800XT was because I was genuinely looking for one. I have no doubt the same could be said for the other "hot" items at atacom, which isn't a bad retailer by any means.

edit: sorry, wasn't thinking. This should be in "Brag & Moan" I guess...

Reason being is atacom is a sponser of Anand. The "hot deals stickies" are really ads that help this forum keep kicking :)

Yea, they're paid ads. If other companies want to market, they have to use those sticky locked thread thingys.

If you want a good deal, see the thread on $219 R9800 Pro's (the performance is only a tiny tad slower than the XT). That "deal" is a possible scam though, so beware.

I ignore them too but I wish they'd buy a banner ad and quit taking up space in the threads. After all the forum is "Hot Deals". If a regular user was to post some of these "Hot Deals" he'd be flamed out of existance. :(

Stickeys, I don't see any stickies.

If you turn off the most recent replied to message and you don't get no darn stickeys.

Personally, I'd rather have them take up thread space. I would LOVE it if the google ads came in thread form. Ahh - the days when we had the full fusetalk screen!

Bingo.

As long as they $upport AT I'm all for it. If it's not hot then just ignore it.

Here's a good question - why doesn't this messageboard software, allow us to control our own "stickys"? That would be one heck of a useful feature, you could "watch" threads, and they would be automatically stickied at the beginning of the thread list for you. You could also "forget" threads, and they would never bother you again.

What about it, mods? Would you consider sending this feature RFE to the messageboard software powers-that-be?
