Question on a Honda distributor.

The distributor on my GFs Civic went again. That's a sore spot for this model. a notorious weak link. Rather than paying through the nose for a dealer to fix it I picked up the distributor myself and changed it out today. And ran into a snag. The new distributor has the right part number, looks right, has the exact same length and width dimensions, etc. But the way the three brackets are set the cap is in a different orientation and now two plug wire are too short to reach their spot on the cap. Is that normal?

Not sure about your year, but for my 98, some have a TEC distributor and some have a Hitachi one. When I change my cap and rotor I have to make sure I pick the right one.

It's a 93 EX with a 1.6L VTEC. It's the right part number, it's just that the brackets on the housing are rotated differently from the last one, that makes the cap about 70* off from how the last one sat and now the 2 and 3 wires no longer reach their sockets.
