Question on a good DVD recoder with Up conversion Capability

a RECORDER that upconverts for <$250? They can be found but I wouldn't say there are any good ones at that price point. I recently price-shopped every player in the book and ended up skipping on the recording feature because so few "also" upconverted. I think Samsung made one (I forget the model) but it bombed on the reviews, saying the upconversion was so terrible it wasn't worth it whatsoever.
