Question of senses

This has been an ongoing issue at work and no one can seem to agree. If you had to give up a sense which would be the first to go, and later which would be the last one to keep? And why?

I'm already partially missing hearing, but that's probably the second-last I'd give up. I'd probably give up smell first.

Smell first, sight last but isnt smell and taste sorta combined?

Yea, that's what I was struggling with. When you have a cold all food taste's like nothing anyway so you are kind of giving up to senses by giving up smell.

For the purpose of this topic we are saying the senses aren't connected. Therefore if you give up smell your sense of taste will be unaffected.

it's amazing to me that so many people would hold on to their sight to the very end, rather than touch. not being able to see sucks, but to not feel anything? i can't even imagine that...

but maybe i'm weird.

You're weird...🙂
I have a problem with my feeling. Honestly, it doesn't affect me a lot. I just have to be careful with hot things mostly. Now granted if I lost all sense of feeling, everywhere, that would be a ah heck. If it's just in my hands and feet, then no problem.

Yep, if you give up smell, you pretty much give up taste too.

See above, for the purposes of this all senses are seperated.

Sorry saw that post after I replied to the one I quoted.

Why hearing? I'm not trying to sway anybody, since you already voted it doesn't matter. For me it would be a lot easier to get around if all I had was sight. I figure I would for the most part be able to communicate like usual, at least in a cyber world.

Smell first, 9/10 times when you smell something, it is a bad smell.

Sight last, seeing is just something I don't think I could live without. Touching and hearing would be my close second, taste would suck but it's doable.

Losing touch would definitely suck, but who wants to be Hellen Keller. If you can't see or hear and something knocks into you, you'd be freaking out constantly. Plus I look at like how I could live the most normal life. You could lose most of the senses without a noticeable affect and learn to cope. Without sight and hearing you would really have to learn a whole bunch of new skills to carry on.

Hearing last because of music. It is such a part of my life that it would be the last thing I would want to give up.

I thought hearing would fair better than it has. If I were into music more I can see how you would want to hold on to that until last.

Smell first. Sucky part would be not knowing if food is bad or not or a smoke from a fire.

Touch last. Without touch you would have a hard time doing anything. I believe you wouldn't be able to walk or hold anything, or really function at all without it. You wouldn't know if you were swollowing something too big, if something is hot or cold.
